English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Our ESOL courses are for anyone resident or permanently settled in the UK who does not have English as their main language. These courses will help you to improve all your English language skills – spoken as well as reading and writing in English. You can develop the skills you need for work, for training and study, to use public services and to be more independent in an English-speaking environment.

Courses are available from Entry Level 1 (Beginner) to Level 2 (GCSE standard)and take place during the week in the morning, afternoon, twilight and evening. We have classes in Oxford, Didcot, Abingdon, Bicester, and Witney. Courses are part-time for 15 weeks starting in September and then again in February, and at the end of our ESOL programmes learners are encouraged to progress onto Functional Skills and GCSE English awards.

ESOL courses cost £120 for a 15 week course but are free to learners on JSA/ESA, or on other income-based benefits if unemployed. Before joining a programme, you will have a short 1:1 interview with us so that we can assess your level – whilst we cannot guarantee you a place, we will do our best to find a course that is the right level for you.
